The Advent season starts on Dec 3 and continues for four weeks ending December 24,

Advent is the preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus at Christmas and also the preparation for the Second Coming of Christ.

Traditionally Advent Calendars are used to count down the days until Christmas by receiving a special treat for each day of Advent.

During this period of Advent our members have traditionally used Advent boxes to contribute to the  community.

Our Advent Boxes focus on giving instead of receiving, because God gave us a wonderful gift, Jesus Christ. So each day of Advent a food or personal item is placed in a box. At the end of Advent our boxes are then given to Reconciliation House to help with their food distribution to families in need.

>Advent Boxes

1. Select a sturdy box suitable to contain all your items for the Advent Box.

2. You may want to cover your box with wrapping paper to make it more festive.

3. Tape the picture of the Advent Wreath on the front of the box. Color the picture if you wish.

4. On the first day of Advent,  November 27 place your first item into the box.  Each day of Advent November 27 thru December 24 place an item in the box. The completed box will have 23 items.

5. We will need to get the Advent Boxes to the Reconciliation House before Advent ends, so the items can be distributed to their clients

6. If possible, we hope you will add additional, items to compensate for our ending this project one week early.

7. So we ask all Advent Boxes be brought to the church by December 17 or taken to the Reconciliation House earlier.

Thank you in advance for your participation.
