DESCRIPTION:We are a small church\, but big on Grace. We gather each Sunday
at 11:00 am for worship by singing hymns\, hearing readings from the bibl
e\, praying together and a celebration of Holy Communion. Communion is the
spiritual bread our bodies need to live. All are invited to join us at th
e Lord's table to be fed by his heavenly food\, There are no strangers in
God’s house\, and if you choose to worship with us\, we would be honored b
y your presence.\nIntroduction\nIt’s a miracle! Multiple miracles! The wat
ers of holy baptism have healed us. The body and blood of Jesus in holy co
mmunion have made us clean. We have died with Christ and been raised with
him. For all this we have returned to offer thanks. From this place we are
sent on our way rejoicing to share the good news.\n \n \nPrayer of the Da
y\nAlmighty and most merciful God\, your bountiful goodness fills all crea
tion. Keep us safe from all that may hurt us\, that\, whole and well in bo
dy and spirit\, we may with grateful hearts accomplish all that you would
have us do\, through Jesus Christ\, our Savior and Lord.\nAmen.\nFirst Rea
 ding:  2 Kings 5:1-3\, 7-15c\nNaaman\, a Syrian general\, suffers from lep
rosy. In this passage Elisha miraculously cures his illness\, but only aft
er Naaman realizes\, with the help of his servants\, that he also needs he
aling for his pride. This foreign general then acknowledges the sovereignt
y of the God of Israel.\n \nPsalm:  111\nI will give thanks to the Lord wi
th my whole heart. (Ps. 111:1)\n \nSecond Reading:  2 Timothy 2:8-15\nThou
gh Paul is chained as a prisoner\, the word of God is never shackled or co
nfined. Timothy is encouraged to proclaim that word of freedom in an hones
t and upright life as well as in his teaching and preaching.\n \nGospel:
Luke 17:11-19\nJesus’ mission includes making people clean again. Unexpect
edly\, a Samaritan healed of leprosy becomes a model for those who would p
raise and worship God and give thanks for God’s mercy.\n11  On the way to
Jerusalem Jesus was going through the region between Samaria and Galilee.
\n12  As he entered a village\, ten men with a skin disease approached him
 . Keeping their distance\,\n13  they called out\, saying\, “Jesus\, Master
\, have mercy on us!”\n14  When he saw them\, he said to them\, “Go and sh
ow yourselves to the priests.” And as they went\, they were made clean.\n1
5  Then one of them\, when he saw that he was healed\, turned back\, prais
ing God with a loud voice.\n16  He prostrated himself at Jesus’s feet and
thanked him. And he was a Samaritan.\n17  Then Jesus asked\, “Were not ten
made clean? So where are the other nine?\n18  Did none of them return to
give glory to God except this foreigner?”\n19  Then he said to him\, “Get
up and go on your way\; your faith has made you well.”\n \nAfter the Sermo
n\, Holy Communion will be offered. Come as you are\, the gift of the Tabl
e of the Lord has been prepared as Jesus has requested and now we are invi
ted to the meal. Come to the table like Peter\, with m ore enthusiasm than
resolve and like James and John\, disappointed and the priorities of God’
s reign. Come to the table like Martha\, hosting and leading with confiden
ce like Mary\, full of love and grief. Come to the table like Judas\, disi
llusioned and rebellious and like Mary Magdalene\, faithful till the end.
Come to the table\, because it is God who invites us and it’s God’s will t
hat those who want to should meet God here.\nBlessing for the day (Our ble
ssing is an adaptation of a Franciscan Prayer)\nMay God bless us with disc
omfort at a Easy answers\, half truths and superficial leaderships so that
we may live out God’s will deep in our heartland in our world.\nMay god b
less with anger at injustice\, oppression and exploration and the environm
ents that we may work for justice\, freedom and peace.\nMay God bless us w
ith tears to shed for those who suffer from pain\, rejection\, hunger and
war so that we may reach out with hands and hearts to help them\, walk wit
h them and turn their pain into hope and joy.\nAnd may God bless us with e
nough foolishness to believe that we can make a difference in this world\,
so that we can do what others claim cannot be done. To bring justice\, pe
ace\, hope and love to all children\, the poor and all others in any need.
\nGod be your comfort\, your strength\;\nGod be your hope and support\;\nG
od be your light and your way\; and the blessing of God Creator\, Redeemer
and Giver of Life\, remain with you now and forever. https://messiahofthe
