DESCRIPTION:We are a small church\, but big on Grace. We gather each Sunday
at 11:00 am for worship by singing hymns\, hearing readings from the bibl
e\, praying together and a celebration of Holy Communion. Communion is the
spiritual bread our bodies need to live. All are invited to join us at th
e Lord's table to be fed by his heavenly food\, There are no strangers in
God’s house\, and if you choose to worship with us\, we would be honored b
y your presence.\nIntroduction\nIntroduction This is the day the Lord has
made! Christ is risen\, and through him all creation is made new! Indeed\,
“God shows no partiality” (Acts 10:34): Christ’s resurrection truly bring
s life to everyone. We sing hymns of praise\, gather around sacred words\,
and proclaim God’s faithfulness\, power\, and love in the feast of holy c
ommunion. With the women at the tomb\, we are astonished\, elated\, and gr
ateful. We depart with joy to proclaim the good news of God’s endless love
.\n \n \nPrayer of the Day\nO God\, you gave your only Son to suffer death
on the cross for our redemption\, and by his glorious resurrection you de
livered us from the power of death. Make us die every day to sin\, that we
may live with him forever in the joy of the resurrection\, through your S
on\, Jesus Christ our Lord\, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Sp
 irit\, one God\, now and forever.\nAmen.\n \nFirst Reading: Acts 10:34-43
\n Peter’s sermon\, delivered at the home of Cornelius\, a Roman army offi
cer\, is a summary of the essential message of Christianity: Everyone who
believes in Jesus\, whose life\, death\, and resurrection fulfilled the wo
rds of the prophets\, “receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”\n
\nPsalm: 118:1-2\, 14-24 This is the day that the Lord has made\; let us r
ejoice and be glad in it. (Ps. 118:24)\n \nSecond Reading:  \nColossians 3
:1-4 Easter means new life for us as it first meant new life for Christ. H
is resurrection reshapes the entire focus and motivation for our lives sin
ce we are now hidden with the risen Christ in God.\n \nGospel:  Matthew 28
:1-10\nSorrow gives way to “fear and great joy” when two women are sent by
an angel to proclaim the good news: Jesus is risen!\n1  After the Sabbath
\, as the first day of the week was dawning\, Mary Magdalene and the other
Mary went to see the tomb.\n2  And suddenly there was a great earthquake\
, for an angel of the Lord\, descending from heaven\, came and rolled back
the stone and sat on it.\n3  His appearance was like lightning and his cl
othing white as snow.\n4  For fear of him the guards shook and became like
dead men.\n5  But the angel said to the women\, “Do not be afraid\, for I
know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified.\n6  He is not here
\, for he has been raised\, as he said. Come\, see the place where he lay.
\n7  Then go quickly and tell his disciples\, ‘He has been raised from the
dead\, and indeed he is going ahead of you to Galilee\; there you will se
e him.’ This is my message for you.”\n8  So they left the tomb quickly wit
h fear and great joy and ran to tell his disciples.\n9  Suddenly Jesus met
them and said\, “Greetings!” And they came to him\, took hold of his feet
\, and worshiped him.\n10  Then Jesus said to them\, “Do not be afraid\; g
o and tell my brothers and sisters to go to Galilee\; there they will see
me.”\n \nAfter the Sermon\, Holy Communion will be offered. Come as you ar
e\, the gift of the Table of the Lord has been prepared as Jesus has reque
sted and now we are invited to the meal. Come to the table like Peter\, wi
th m ore enthusiasm than resolve and like James and John\, disappointed an
d the priorities of God’s reign. Come to the table like Martha\, hosting a
nd leading with confidence like Mary\, full of love and grief. Come to the
table like Judas\, disillusioned and rebellious and like Mary Magdalene\,
faithful till the end. Come to the table\, because it is God who invites
us and it’s God’s will that those who want to should meet God here.\nBless
ing for the day (Our blessing is an adaptation of a Franciscan Prayer)\nMa
y God bless us with discomfort at a Easy answers\, half truths and superfi
cial leaderships so that we may live out God’s will deep in our heartland
in our world.\nMay god bless with anger at injustice\, oppression and expl
oration and the environments that we may work for justice\, freedom and pe
ace.\nMay God bless us with tears to shed for those who suffer from pain\,
rejection\, hunger and war so that we may reach out with hands and hearts
to help them\, walk with them and turn their pain into hope and joy.\nAnd
may God bless us with enough foolishness to believe that we can make a di
fference in this world\, so that we can do what others claim cannot be don
 e. To bring justice\, peace\, hope and love to all children\, the poor and
all others in any need.\nGod be your comfort\, your strength\;\nGod be yo
ur hope and support\;\nGod be your light and your way\; and the blessing o
f God Creator\, Redeemer and Giver of Life\, remain with you now and forev
